Hunting Season

In 2022, Paul and Heather made it to opening weekend and while Paul didn't get the first kill for the camp he did claim a doe. Due to CWD, chronic waste disease, being found in deer in the region, no one was allowed to use deer luring items such as corn, rice brand, etc. Due to this Paul relied on his skill of hunting under pecan and acorn trees. The morning he killed his doe Heather wasn't with him sadly.  He had to make a quick shot as deer weren't drawn to one pace like previous years but instead transitioned between areas a lot more.  While Paul made a good kill this would be the only kill due to his and Heather's busy schedule with Paul's new job and Heather's Fire Fighting Training.

Paul and Heather went back in December of 2021 after their visit to Disney and enjoyed several days of good hunts. Heather was the first to kill one evening and made a very nice 75 yard shot to down her deer. Paul killed the next day at a shorter distance but again a good kill to fill the freezers with deer meat. Both used Paul's .270 bolt-action rifle that Paul received years ago from his parents

One reason Paul was attracted to Heather was her love for the outdoors. Practically when it comes to hunting. Heather had never hunted in Louisiana before and joined Paul on open weekend of Bow Season. Paul is known for killing a doe the open weekend each year and he wasn’t going to fall short this year. In 2021 however he had Heather's help in the stand. Since Paul normally hunts out of a climbing stand by himself he had to set a second stand in the tree for Heather. Heather spot the doe first and got Paul's attention so he could turn and around and make the kill.

Paul and Heather had a great hunt and made a clean kill. Heather had never had a deer come in that close before.
